Hot Pockets Granny Chef ruined my Meatball and Mozzarella!
Eeeewww! Gross! What did the makers of Hot Pockets do? Hire some granny to stuff their pockets with homemade cooking?

If I wanted homemade cooking I would have done that, not heat up a Hot Pocket.

A little known fact about me is that I was super addicted to Hot Pocket Croissants Meatballs & Mozzarella. I haven't been able to find the croissants in over six months so I bought up a few of the regular crusted ones for a quick lunch on the run.

Being a little on the down side this evening I'm not feeling well enough to even heat up a bowl of soup. So in the microwave went these Hot Pockets. I take a bite and it's so nasty that I can't even eat the rest.

Here PeeWee! Snack for you! That dog will eat anything.

Meh, maybe it's my taste buds on strike or something. I don't have a cold yet or anything else. It's just that achy feeling you get when a fever is starting to come on. I woke up this way this morning and have been declining slowly all day. Loading up on vitamins, juice and rest for being sick is not allowed around here.

Hoping it's not that Strep Throat strain that has been going around here lately.

Well anyhoo - Hot Pockets if you Google yourself and find this post - fire that grandma in your kitchen and bring back the Trans Fat unhealthy stuff will 'ya? I'd rather shorten my life a year or two with clogged arteries than to never enjoy a tasty Hot Pocket ever again.

Christmas Messes
"One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don't clean it up too quickly." -Andy Rooney

Are you kidding me? I've spent more time cleaning messes in my living room this past year than I've spent blogging.

Our living room is a never ending spewing volcano of thriving frenzy overflowing from a 12' x 12' hat box. Yet, I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Yesterday was the best Christmas of my entire life....

...and that's all I have to say about that.

Sensitivity Training
It's tough being a girl sometimes. Particularly if you have big knockers. You tend to worry about wearing long necklaces because the pendant gets lost between your cleavage. Then there are times when the chain just hangs wrong, framing an entire boob in 24K gold as if to say, "Hey, look at me."

You learn to adjust, by choosing your frozen food through the closed glass doors first vs. standing there in sub zero temps admiring Ben and Jerry's.

However even with the many precautions a gal can take she never really escapes the Google....

Do the crime, do the time?
This post is part of my on going saga called life, recently dramatized by a home burglary. Yes, the mug shot that I posted a few days ago was that of my neighbor. The kid next door who just turned 18. Of course I feel hurt and betrayed above all, that he busted our trust and allowed my home to be used for gansta purposes.

Angry especially at the kids who are now sitting in jail that I do not know. Both Gon and myself could care less and are in the mindset of pleading with their judge to give them a full 20 years. But this neighbor kid, we're quite torn on what we should do.

Let's call this young man Jay from now on, shall we? Well, if you look closer at his mug shot there you may see that he is wearing hearing aids. See, Jay was born almost completely deaf and even with these hearing aids - cannot hear clearly nor the way that normal folks like us do.

A little more complicated, but important just the same is that the State of Georgia does not have many, if any programs for the hearing impaired. Those that are found in the yellow pages don't accept welfare, medicaid or children from indigent families. So basically Jay here has had nothing but crap from his entire life of education, social networking, girlie friends, state of coolness, etc. You get the feeling.

Now Jays Daddy suffered from depression and committed suicide when Jay was just two. The Father Figure thing wasn't happening nor was anyone even close to filling that role for this young man. Grandpa did even recently by buying Jay a new truck. Also buying Jay tuition to a nearby tech college where Jay attended for about 30 minutes. Grandma's been around too, now frantically trying to help Jay with an attorney, medicaid and SSI benefits to help him rehab.

Yes, I said rehab. It isn't so surprising I suppose that a young 18 year old kid could be a staggering alcoholic. But he is and has been for the last two years. Not the typical party on and catch the buzz type of alcohol use - but the drown your sorrows until you pass out and make the world go away type.

The kid needs to be accountable. The kid needs to make amends and regain trust. He needs rehabilitation and behavioral/physical doctor care.

Correction with direction.

But does he need to be marked as a felon? Slammed away for 20 years? Only to be let out with no more than he went in with.

See, that's the dilemma. First court date is Monday morning and we have to go. We'll have to testify, say something... make a suggestion. The kid has pleaded and said countlessly that he is now sorry.

Yet at the same time I'm here wondering who the victim in all this really is? What should we say or do?

Trim your Bush
My electric bill came in the mail yesterday. $420 for a 2 bedroom/2 bath 12 x 60 mobile home! Normally I love the number 420, I get giddy just thinking about it, but to find it on my electric bill - that was downright obscene.

For the last few months I've been complaining about my bill to our neighbors. They all have an electric bill down in the $200 range. I've insulated, saved power, turned off every light that was not in use and even been cooking outside on the grill.

Something isn't right.

Today in the mail came a notice from Georgia Power saying that my bill was estimated because the meter was not visible. I am to trim my bush before the next meter reading on October 3, 2007. There's only one major problem. There isn't a bush anywhere near my meter.

Something definitely isn't right.

So I called them this afternoon to explain my concerns. I work in McMansions that have lower electric bills and this doesn't make sense. The customer service representative gave me a ton of possibilities.

1) "Mobile Homes aren't insulated". (I can't buy this because we personally gutted this place, put up insulation and new floors, ceiling, walls and windows. It's airtight.)

2) "Using Air Conditioning." (Oh, now why didn't I consider that? How silly of me. NOT. Half of my neighbors also have AC and have it set to Arctic and still have lower monthly bills.)

3) "This bill was estimated." (Yes and about that? There isn't a bush near my meter.) "It says specifically here that you do and it must be trimmed." (No bush. A blade of grass maybe. Five feet below the meter. Otherwise the meter is in full view at any angle.)

Lastly she told me something that almost blew me out of my seat. Electric rates are DOUBLE from June 1st to August 31st. In other words I may have used just as many kilowatt hours air conditioning and running my home back in May when my bill was $210. However, this bill falls in a period of DOUBLE rates and is now $420. September's bill will fall back to the normal single rate.

I understand the laws of economics. That supply and demand set the price and that in the summertime - electric is in greater demand. But to DOUBLE the rate? No wonder the elderly on fixed incomes are being found dead in their homes during a heat wave. Someone should put a meter on the Power Company to regulate them. We have no other choice in provider and they can get away with this? All the while they've been nickel and dime'ing the normal flat rate every three months or so.

Sounds like there really is bush in the way that needs trimming. It's time we start seeing the power companies for who they really are. I'm about ready to pull the plug on them.

Bottoms Up
"From the depths of the crypt of St Giles
Came a scream that echoed for miles.
Said the Vicar, "Good Gracious,
Has father Ignacius
Forgotten the Bishop has piles?"

This figures. Just as I thought I'm down to the bottom of my health problems and being sick over the past two weeks - this terrifying nightmare comes out of nowhere.

Well okay, not necessarily of of nowhere but from down there - where things are not supposed to come out of nor see the light of day. Things such as Hemorrhoids, which everyone has and most everyone will have a problem with during sometime in their lives. All due to gravity and the price we pay for sitting and standing upright, along with having opposable thumbs I suppose.

So why am I telling my blog readers a little more than y'all care to know? Believe me I thought of not saying anything, but my obvious absence may need a bit of explanation. Sure, I can lie and tell y'all I'm on vacation or just toss a carefree; "I've been too busy" post. But instead I sided with honesty, not to mention having this affliction creates issues in of itself, and what a better place to post just that.

This terrible, obtrusive and downright obscene affliction can surely muff up your day. Or week in my case. Many times I've prayed on why couldn't I have a boil? A volcano sized Vesuvius Zit on the end of my nose? Even a short term stint of Bell's Palsy would had been better. But noooooo, this week's aliment got me smack dab on the starfish of my ass. I can barely sit, barely stand and walk like an old lady who has rickets.

At least that is how I hobbled into our local CVS Saturday to splurge $50 on every OTC hemorrhoid medication there was. All to no avail, these buddies weren't going to go away so quickly. So according to package directions I contacted my Doctor after seven days with no improvement. That was yesterday and quite frankly one of the worse days of my life.

You know it's bad when your doctor lets out a huge gasp upon examination. Granted, I did warn her but she didn't seem to believe me. She was only concerned about my elevated Blood Pressure but after seeing my rear end, she justified my high blood pressure from how painful it looked. I guess she thought I was joking when I said I felt like there was a tennis ball shoved up my backside.

She sent me home with a referral and a prescription for steroids and back to the CVS I roamed to spend another $50. It's been a day and there isn't any real improvement except I am able to sit for the few minutes it takes to write a blog post. Allbeit, not so comfortably.

But life must go on around me and I must also. Hoping to goodness that nobody I run into will recognize my tell tale hobble, scoot technique and grimace.

Being Served the Cheese
Earlier this week this poor little 64 year old lady from North Carolina decided to go out one morning to her local grocery store to buy herself some cheese. God bless her heart, she never had a chance to step out of her car before a sheriff tossed a summons to report for jury duty through her car window. She had one hour to report to the courthouse or else be held in contempt.

I sure hope this annoying practice to land jurors doesn't spread on south to Georgia. I can't imagine what I would do if put in this situation, except to say I would feel incredibly violated.

At least once a year I receive a jury duty summons, one year it happened twice. Like many US citizens I tend to groan and mumble when they arrive. The duty is burdensome and for me, it places a financial debt upon me due to a weeks worth of missed employment with the added burden of paying for childcare expenses, gas and time. But I still report for duty.

I believe Jury Duty is every American's duty along with Voting. It is a way to protect and ensure that we as a people are governed by people. God forbid if I ever am on trial, I would surely exercise my constitutional right to have a jury of my peers.

But to be served with one hours notice would have me bursting at the seams with major issues. Not just me, but for the many people who depend on me. Just last week I fell sick with a summer flu and it disrupted dozens of lives. From my family, a friend that I take for radiation treatments at the Anderson Cancer Center, the older couple I cook meals and do laundry for, and right down to the wonderful others who were able to do these things in my place while I was out for the count.

It leaves me to wonder why the North Carolina Sheriff decided to serve this 64 year old woman a spontaneous summons. Was his choice random or did he merely assume she was old, retired and had nothing better to do that day but to go to the store for some cheese? What if she was like many grandmothers who watch their grandchildren during the summer vacation so their parents can go to work? What about her plans for the day or in some cases, her entire week? Jury Duty should be served with a bit of notice so a person can realign their plans and responsibilities.

In the meantime I think I'll move my shopping day to early Saturday mornings.

Do You Have Issues: "South Africa Crime"
"The murder and crime in our country is tearing us apart. All I know is that we can together make a change it was with friends like you that we changed our country and the hearts of all in it. And now we are depending on you to please help us in this time of being ruled by gangsters posing as freedom fighters, gangsters posing as politicians and gangsters posing as people who speak for the Lord. Be Strong pray for us and all those that who have lost so many so many. Why must we suffer like this. Why have you forgotten all of us in South Africa? You were there when we needed you during the darkest days of Apartheid. Please Oh God all we have are you. Defenders of the Free. Defenders of the Faith!

Rest in peace my dear Mr Feng and join the army of innocents Our Lord is about to assemble. We cannot escape our fate!

I have been robbed, assaulted and my friends gang raped. Lost my auntie in a brutal murder and am still waiting for an answer. Yet the world dines in decadence. God how our continent has been raped by the Western decadence!

Thank you that I can at least know I have you. And while noone may care in government over there, I know you will be thinking of us on your winged prayer!"

God Bless
Love
Hanlie
xxxOxxx

Thank you Hanlie for sharing your grief. Many may not be aware that beautiful South Africa is rated first in the world for crimes including murder, assaults and rapes per capita by the United Nations.

To put things in another prospective, in America at least 5.5 out of 100,000 persons will be a victim of Homicide this year. In South Africa 49.6.

My own home of Savannah, GA has seen a spike in violent crime rates and homicides have increased 50% since 2004. Currently there has been much controversy on what to do about it. Seems every time the authorities implement a crime preventive measure, someone stands up and cries foul.

Miss Hanlie, I so very wish I could have an answer for your issues with crime. For now my prayers go with you. Take care of yourself and loved ones. Arm yourself however possible and take advantage of self defense courses and training in your area.

Use the Buddy System when out after dark or in an unknown area. Ask a store manager, or nice strapping young fellow to walk you out to your car or taxi. Band together with like-minded individuals, establish a neighborhood watch and light up your home and surrounding community.

Thugs don't like close knit and highly lit areas where they can be seen. Neither do they want to be heard. If pets are allowed where you reside - consider adopting a doggie. No matter what size, most family dogs will bark whenever they sense someone strange in the area. Many times their senses are more keen and in tune than their humans can ever be.

Best wishes and again, many prayers. -Margie

Do You Have Issues?: "Poker Face"
I don't know where to turn! Heres my 'Issue!' ...My husband goes out with his friends and plays poker three or four times a week. I know he's losing the kids school money although he says he wins, I don't believe him. And, most nights, he's been drinking and he also comes home... often. Any advice? -Very worried!

Let's begin with some wishful thinking, shall we. For starters, friends don't let friends gamble away their children's education money or the mortgage. I can't say the same for casino gambling or strangers - but friends, buddies who get together in a smoked filled room, with beer, cards and poker chips are doing it for the sport - not for the money. They tend to begin their night on an even playing field and more often than not they each only put up about $20 for chips to play through the night. The worst he can ever loose is about $20.

Now, I'm going to spill a little secret about guys. If a buddy falls upon hard times such as a layoff or unemployment, his pride won't allow him to accept any financial help from his friends. So a bunch of his friends would get together have a poker night and put on their best poker faces. Loosing on purpose eventually so Buddy Bubba can go home with $100 to help pay his electric bill.

Bubba thinks he had a lucky night, is relieved and still has his pride but his friends know they were able to help him out. Plus a few hours of beer and venting times to help encourage Bubba and lift his spirits. Poker night can often be a huge therapy session for guys in their own tough, testosterone and manly kind of way.

With that being said, playing poker with his friends isn't a bad thing. Drinking isn't a terrible thing either but coming home drunk, puking all over your clean house and stumbling around knocking your sentimental knick-knacks off the shelf is. A few beers that render beer breath and a happy, jolly spirited husband is tolerable - any more than that and you may want to start wondering if your Husband is "Bubba" and down on his luck.

Three or four times a week is a bit excessive. I'm with you on this one. Perhaps you can meet him halfway or even open up your kitchen table for one poker night to hosted at your house. Tell your husband you'll take the children out to dinner, to a library or movie one night a week. When you come home promise to not disrupt the game and quietly get the children ready for bed. Bake brownies or make sandwiches and chips for your husband and his buddies. Listen to the game and conversation as you watch TV quietly in the other room. Hear what goes down at these games. Get to know your husband's friends and allow them to get to know you.

I would go as far as to make your husband and buddies so darn comfortable playing at your home that they may want to do it all of the time. Then... you're in control of the situation and at the very least get to put your foot down and say, "One poker night here per week and one more poker night allowed somewhere else during the week." Allowing your husband to continue in his sport but not so much so that he feels you're nagging on him.

Be gentle, guys and their pride are just as breakable as your sentimental knick-knacks. Make sure to let him know that you and the children miss spending time with him on other nights and that he is needed. Not merely wanted - but needed at home more often to play a husband and father roll - not play poker so often. Yet at the same time let him know you understand that he also needs and is wanted to play the role of "friend" to his buddies.

Do You Have Issues?: Messy Drawers
I can't help but feel I will remain a drug addict the rest of my life, even during my sober moments. (I've been clean for a little while now)

See, the thing is, I feel like I'm just living to pass time until I pick my addiction back up. Fighting it doesn't last very long. I usually spend three to six months of the year stoned out of my mind and I'm comfortable with that, though everyone around me feels 'it is a waste of my time, mind and money'.

At the end of the day I do want to evolve but at the same time I wouldn't mind just laying on the couch all day feeding my senses with a pipe.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Live responsibly no matter what your vices are. I'm using the word vice lightly and not so much in the sense that what has a grip on you is immoral or bad, but that it has a grip on you. You could be addicted to chocolate, sex or even sitting in front of your computer a bit too much - neither thing is bad, but it can be bad for you if the grip causes you to neglect your responsibilities and yourself.

Let us just say that you really, really love chocolate. There is nothing wrong with chocolate, there is nothing wrong with you for loving it. But be honest with yourself, if not taken in moderation - over time will cost you money, toothaches, frustrations and degrade your health and abilities. You would be far better off keeping chocolate as a treat not as a sustainable daily diet or costly routine.

Now I happen to know you a bit, and happen to know that you are young, single and just beginning to find your place, your way and approach in life. Many of us have been there including myself. Only you can determine what living responsibly means to you.

I can only suggest that you set limits on the things that you enjoy that can ultimately cause you harm if left unmoderated. A treat of an alcoholic drink now and then is one thing, but to be stoned out of your mind is quite another. You can't appreciate the treat if you are drowning in it day and night. Stay in control, you are the one that wants to absorb the treat - don't let the treat absorb you.

Identify the triggers that make you want to fire up the pipe. Maybe you're bored. Maybe you're lonely. Maybe you hate your job or hate having no money at the end of the week. You'll soon have a nice long list before you on what you don't want to be. End that list by slapping "not wanting to be a drug addict" at the end.

Flip that paper around and write down the stuff you do want. From a different career, to being married in a stable and trusting relationship, or maybe you want to be Mayor of your town someday. Then from there start investing your time, mind and money on pursuing these things. Take a class and learn something new. Meet someone new. Try something new. Join a Political club or your local Toastmasters or Free Masons to surround yourself with wise, goal oriented and responsible individuals. Get your high on life and through pride and accomplishments. One day and one accomplishment at a time.

For many reasons I often tell people to go and clean and organize their sock and underwear drawer. Sounds silly but it isn't. You go into this drawer two or three times a day. For weeks after organizing it you'll see, enjoy and reap the benefits of just 20 minutes of effort and time. When you put away your laundry you'll actually want to maintain this nice drawer up and not let it fall behind and get tossed again. Being Master of your Domain just by being in control of your sock drawer can move mountains in other parts of your life.

So for now, after you are finished reading this go clean and organize your sock and underwear drawer. While you're at it - toss your pipe in there towards the back. Let the pipe suffer by putting it in its place - in order to tell it who is in charge of your life. Then, well - go out and live! Go live responsibly and get some fun on. You can do it, I know you can!

Do You Have Issues?: Stupid is as Stupid Does.
Miz Margie, I want to know why a lot of people think that Southerns are big, dumb, and stupid? All areas of this country have persons who match that description. In most of the movies, and tv shows, we are stereotyped as bumbling boobs (double breasted) or hayseeds (straw hats) with B. S. (BBQ Sauce) for brains. I know you like living in the South, so what's your take on this?

You're absolutely right. Big, dumb and stupid peeps can be found all across America. Unfortunately you are also right on how Southerners are frequently stereotyped in this manner. Movies such as "Deliverance", TV Sitcoms, some Country music songs and even Jeff Foxworthy is a self made millionaire simply by pickin' on the Redneck culture.

Which reminds me of the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" and makes me question that if there is an intelligent anthropological reason for this. The reason being, what the majority of a large area of people have done for a living over a course of time. (For example; Agricultural, Ranching, Coal Mining, Manufacturing, etc.)

I'm from New Jersey, the Garden State and when asked will always emphasis "South Jersey". I do so to separate myself from the city folk up North and the New Yorkers. Not that there is anything wrong with them or me for that matter, but our cultures are drastically different. I never seen a taxi cab or city bus for the first 18 years of my life. Growing up surrounded by miles and miles of blueberry farms, corn fields, peach trees, dairy farms and pine trees had kept me ignorant of so much of the world.

It is wonderful and honorable to be simple but unfortunately it is often correlated with being stupid. Maybe I don't have a clue on stem cell research or the latest theory on Quantum Physics - but what are the chances that Stephen Hawking knows how to cut brake rotors? Did Albert Einstein know how to build a Double Whopper with cheese? Does Senator John Kerry know how to rebuild a carburettor?

Probably not but they depend on others to know these things just as others depend on them to find a cure for cancer or handle diplomatic relations to bring peace to our country, world and children. They don't need to know how the corn was grown, harvested and put into their frozen Green Giant Veggie Blend side dish.

The South doesn't have the best Ivy League Schools or even the best of national school testing scores. What we have is the best of real, down home kind of people.

Savannah, where a "pigeon-toed only child with a receding chin and a you-leave-me-alone-or-I'll-bite-you complex" girl named Flannery O'Connor became one of the most important voices in American Woman's literature. Where Clarence Thomas was raised by a poor single mother and rose to become a Supreme Court Justice. Where Juliette Gordon Low founded the US Girl Scouts and helped to empower young ladies to be all they wanted to be.

They are just a few of the many wonderful, famous and talented people that have roots in the South. Fed on corn, shaded by straw hats and who liked their chicken dripping with Johnny Harris' sauce.

My take on the whole thing, "Stupid is as Stupid Does."

Do You Have Issues?
A whole week has went by without a single issue sent in and I take that as a good sign. This must mean everyone out there in the Blogosphere must be at peace and content for the time being.

Almost a year ago I started this blog for all the wrong reasons. After belonging for years in a long-standing Forum Group some weird, tacky, wacky and hacky things started happening to all of the members after a flame war went down. As owner of the group I tried to solve it and find out who was playing the childish head games. Thus the blog title, "Do you have Issues?" It was a sad attempt to solve a very pitiful situation.

After things cooled down it seemed Google had picked up this blog and I was getting a bunch of "Dear Abby" type emails and comments from people having issues from all over the world. At first I tried to shake it, but then realized that everyone has issues from time to time and kept the title. I've changed a few things and added a few others and the blog just grew and evolved to where it's at today.

Looking back through some of my archives this morning I realized that left unmentioned are many of my own issues over this past year. In particular the serious ones such as my Mom's battle against Breast Cancer and my own scare a few months back. Financial problems, car troubles, house repairs, work, family and relationship issues. In my "Margie Unplugged" segments I let a little of me out, but I tend to keep the bigger things tucked away safely, secretly and privately.

There's a part of me this morning that says this is misleading and I should spill some more, even if only to inspire, encourage and help another go through a similar issue.

Then there is that other part of me with a big huge zit at the end of my nose, that is already sore from the onset of spring allergies so I sneeze. In doing so I fart so loudly that the dog runs out from underneath my chair in fear for his life and knocks over anything in his path. The phone rings and the answering machine picks it up, my Mom is calling just as my daughter who is riding her new bike in the house slams it into the 30 gallon fish tank. The light drops in and without thinking I reach in to fish it out and end up flying 15 feet backwards because I didn't unplug the stupid thing first.

My life isn't full of issues. No. It's full of chaos, crazy and totally unbelievable happenings. Y'all wouldn't even believe me if I told you. So I beg of you - write in and give me some issues. I crave some normalcy!

Turning up the Heat on Valentine's Day
Margie: My hubby asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day and I asked him to pick me out something sexy to wear like a nightie or lingerie. He said he wouldn't and I thought it was because he was too embarrassed to go and buy something like this but instead he said that I wasn't hot enough to wear sexy things anymore. I am only 34 and in good shape but I am so upset with him that I can't even look at him anymore. Should I go buy myself something for Valentines Day and remind him how hot I can be? - Cold in Florida

Funny, I was listening to my favorite morning radio show "Lex and Terry" this morning on my way to work. A lady called in to ask something to the tune of "at what age is a woman no longer hot." There are a few men on the show - each with different perspectives but they all seemed to agree that there is a short window of "hot" in a woman's life. Terry explained it well by saying, "Hot is an age when you don't try to be hot. After that a woman can be considered beautiful but not hot."

I gotta defend him, he didn't mean to sound like such a creep - but he was right. To often us ladies try to chase down that "hot" look and we end up miserable doing so. Exercising to the point of exhaustion, never ending dieting, primping, plucking and lifting things at the high expense of time and money. We're trying too hard when to be simply beautiful need not take so much effort.

So no, under NO circumstances should you march over to Victoria Secret and buy that sexy cat-suit or flimsy see-through negligee. First of all it is February and even though you are in Florida there is a bit of a chill in the air. Next, the material that they use for this sort of attire is adorned with scratchy, itchy lace, garters, straps and Lord knows what flimsy elastic that may snap off and take someone's eye out.

Save your money and instead go and buy your husband a brand new white dress shirt or T-shirt. When the sun goes down and you're ready to get comfortable, simply just wear this shirt. Pop some popcorn and rent a cool action DVD full of fast cars and lots of shoot 'em up scenes. Curl up on the sofa beside him, munch down all of the chocolates he gave you and I guarantee you'll have a hot yet beautiful romantic night.

If your Mother doesn't love you... who will?
Dear Margaret: My Mom hates me. She loves me because I am her kid and all and if I died she would probably cry but she doesn't understand me. Whenever I do go to her with a problem she tells me that I am over reacting and that my emotions are all just bullshit. I feel like I should run away or kill myself. If your Mother doesn't love you... who will? -Cynthia in MN

Listen Kiddo, you're Momma doesn't hate you. She may hate the things you do or the fact there are things you do not do or forget to do. She may even hate to see you upset over a problem or the fact you are going through a dramatic ordeal; but I sincerely doubt that she hates you.

I remember driving my Mom bonkers when I was a teen and you know what, it's not that she didn't understand me - it was the fact that I didn't understand myself or what I was going through. I didn't know for sure that certain things would blow over or end up alright in the long run. I never was a teenager before, that was my first run in with certain situations and trust me, they were some really screwed up situations.

Looking back now, Mom was mostly right. She was a teenager before and now I dread the day when I have to go through the same fighting and arguing with my own daughter. It isn't easy being a teenager and it isn't easy being the parent of a teenager either.

Now, you didn't say your Mom was insane or anything so I'm hoping she's not going to kill you or beat you senseless. Either way, it seems that at this time in your life you are at odds with her more often than not. That being the case, go adopt a Mom. Find a mature adult that you can come to or call with issues. Just in case. Maybe a favorite Aunt, Grandmother, your Father, older sister or a Mother of a friend who seems to have her head on straight.

Even grown-ups when they are diagnosed with an illness or injury, seek out second opinions. We even find times when we need to seek out lawyers to represent us when we land ourselves in stinks. So just in case you do land yourself in a stink and feel you can't go to your Mom first - have someone on hand to go to. Someone who will maturely help guide you or help you come to your Mom with a serious issue.

As for wanting to run away or kill yourself, please go speak with a school nurse or counselor. That is what they are there for and you can trust them. If they think you are in danger they will help save you. They'll help you cope with issues, big or small. They are pretty cool too, and won't call your Mom and tell her stuff behind your back. If you need help they can help you. Defend you if you have to face your Mother with a situation and you don't want to go it alone.

Hang in there. Going off to college or off on your own, isn't too far off. You'll have a whole entire, exciting world before you soon and if all goes well, a wonderful Mom who you will love to come home to. Make sure to bring lots of laundry! Sure, she'll bitch a fit but you know what? There is a part inside of all Moms that love to be there whenever their grown up children need them. -Margie
