Tree Hugging Hippy Part I |
One thing our old home didn't have much of was trees! It seemed the family who lived there before us thought it would be a grand idea to hack down all the trees and instead let the evil invader vine Kudzu swallow the house instead. We planted a few trees five years ago, and although they are much bigger now - they still have years to go before they canopy the old house. Providing shade and cool breezes in the heat of the summer.
This new place however, has GOTS 'ze TREES!! Lot's of 'em. From Cypresses, tall Georgia Pines, Magnolias and the famous, romantic and character of the Live Oak Tree that Savannah is famous for. Like this one!!
Nestled right in our front yard and hosting lots of birds and squirrel families. Azaleas skirting the bottom and Spanish moss draping like tinsel on a festive Christmas tree in the midst of a hot southern summer afternoon.
A perfect place for me to put a comfy bench swing for my Phat Ass on a hot, sultry summer day. A tall glass of Country Time Lemonade and barefoot. Yup, barefoot. As soon as I find said swing the scene in front of our new house will soon look like this!

How is it with the Allergies. When I moved the family here to SATX, we had lots of Oak, Pine and Cedar trees which immediately increased our allergist budget....

It looks like you have made a great move. I love that swing.

I wish we had trees in our front yard. One was cut down because it was ugly and dying. Another was cut down because the roots had broken through our sewer pipe, which was randomly made of clay.

You will love the shade! What a nice place to sit and visit. :-)

Margaret, congratulations on the new/old house, the trees, the swing and - the easel! It sounds like a great move. An old house in Savannah. Did I tell you that I visited Savannah two years ago and absolutely loved it. The trees are very special. I'm so glad to hear from your comment that you're setting up to paint. I've been doing lots of art lately and not much blogging. No time for both. In the meantime, the summer is here and it's so great to be outside (on a swing?) hugs Ela

I miss trees. We moved to San Antonio and our neighborhood has overgrown bushes that people CALL trees. Nothing like the huge elms and maples and oaks and pines in my old stomping grounds. My wife and I miss sitting on our swing and hearing the wind rustling in the poplar leaves.
Thought you might like to know that I've started posting Dismaying Stories again. Drop by if you get a chance.
