There was this one time in Band Camp... |
I play Guitar and Clarinet even though both have been sitting behind my living room sofa, in their cases collecting dust for the past few years. They say that sometimes our talents are like riding a bike, you never really forget them and can pick them up quickly again years later. Although there are many songs I can still play by ear and practice... Here are 13 songs that I still can remember and play confidently by heart without even thinking about it.
1. Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. (Clarinet)
2. Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin (Guitar & Clarinet)
3. Benny Hill Theme Song. (Guitar)
4. Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. (Guitar & Clarinet)
5. The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. (Guitar)
6. Tusk by Fleetwood Mac. (Guitar & Clarinet)
7. Colour my World by Chicago. (Clarinet)
8. Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett. (Guitar & Clarinet)
9. Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. (Guitar)
10. Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. (Guitar)
11. Candle in the Wind by Elton John. (Guitar & Clarinet)
12. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (Clarinet)
13. Urgent by Foreigner. (Clarinet)
Does anyone else play or used to play any instruments? |

Hi Margaret, I *thought* all your comments back at my site had a musical lilt to them :o) I'm also a guitar player and I'm learning some Beethoven on the piano. And just like you, my guitar collects dust these days. My favorites to play are Desperado (Eagles) and America (Paul Simon).

That picture is mighty sexy.
I can table tap. Master Champion in my home town. Well, I came 2nd. Thats close to 1st.

Doing better than me. My viola is still in the closet. I don't what I could still play without making your ears bleed.

Rather a disparate grouping of songs there, Margie-girl! :) BENNY HILL? Oh good Lord. hehe
Impressive list. I can play almost nothing. All the flute players in our school band could do "Colour my world" though.
Happy Thursday!

In grade skool, I had the choice (when joining band) of drums or clarinet. When I found out they meant DRUM (meaning only one friggin drum), I snatched up the clarinet and held first seat will a graduated.
A while back, I started (on the computer)piano lessons, but can only play half of Moonlight sonata (and a whoopass rendition of Jingle Bells).

Sounds like you're just as bad as I am. My guitar is sitting behind the recliner in the kids' game room gathering dust too!
I did, however, buy myself four new Lee Oskar harmonicas. Been playing blues harp for about 32yrs and I've really been slacking over the last three.

The Benny Hill Theme Song?? LOL
I *can* play the piano, but I seldom do. My latest excuse is that it really needs tuning, and I don't have time to do it, and I don't feel right paying someone to do it when I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself.... *rolling my eyes* I have a son who plays the guitar, and one who plays the clarinet.

Thanks for the list. All these are new to me.

Great photo!
I played clarinet & bassoon.
Enjoy your Thursday!

Wow, you learned a lot better songs than we did in band! I played flute, piccolo, and trumpet. I also took piano lessons for a while, but had to give it up since I have short, stubby fingers that can't even reach an octave.
Happy TT. :)

Great list! I have always wished I could play an instrument of some kind.

do you still remember the notes to Tusk by Fleetwood Mac? I'm a clarinet player as well and have been trying to learn how to play it :)
