One Half Pound
Today is week 5 of the dastardly evil diet. After weighing in I found I only lost 1/2lb this entire week. I could be depressed about it but when I realize that this loss is equal to this photo of a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese - I'm quite tickled that I don't have it stuck to my thighs anymore.

I was a very bad, bad girl this weekend. Friday night we tried out a new Restaurant that featured all the Sins of the South. Sweet Southern Iced Tea, Fried, battered and floured everything. The buffet included mashed potatoes, biscuits, breads, pasta and grits. The only veggies I could find were corn and cheese smothered broccoli. Sure they had a very limp salad bar but frankly, my ass is quite tired of all of this fiber.

So I ate and although I didn't eat much, I literally came home and crashed. Waking up the next morning with a Carbohydrate hangover.

We're going out to eat again this evening thanks to a wonderful friend who gave us a Gift Certificate to the Outback Steakhouse. We'll finish off the evening with a big helping of Birthday cake and there is a good chance I'll gain this lost half pound by the time I wake up tomorrow morning.

But that is okay, I'm now 5lbs away from my first weight loss goal and I will make it!! I'm already feeling the wonderful effects of loosing 15lbs so far and I feel great. The best part of all and my inspiration is that by this time next year I will be turning a sexy 40 instead of the frumpy 39 year old that I turned into today.

Lifting a glass of Crystal Light Peach Iced Tea to all my diet buds out there!

I turned 40 Jan 1 and immediately decided to try and get down to my 30th birthday weight of 120.

The only thing that would have made turning 40 better was if I had started my diet at 39.

To this end happy birthday and good luck with the diet. It never hurts to treat yourself, especially on your birthday!

    Happy Birthday Southern Gal (transplanted)!

Just have to comment on the Outback as we eat there more now than ever before as Outback and Carraba's are the two places on the giftcards my wife can buy at 20% off through work. Here's the deal, in about 15 lifetime visits to Outback, Amy has gotten a steak ONE time. I can't explain it but she's nuts about the Alice Springs Chicken.

Also, our one visit to an Outback on Savannah (midblock on the road that parallels River St), we were waiting (an inordinate amount of time considering we had called ahead after deciding not to wait 2 hours for Lady and Sons), and a woman walks up to my wife and asks Amy if she wasn't this lady's breast-feeding coach!

Superb effort re: weight loss. You should be very proud. Just hope you aim to stay healthy for life. That means no more herion!

As the Sins of the South, why don't we have resturants like that in Australia! No fair. Everytime you guys come over and start up a food chain like that generational Australians kick up a stink and they shut down. I have to admit though, nothing beats a 'corner-store-burger.' I'm talking real fresh beef, beetroot, egg, bacon, real fresh cheese, fried onions, and the boring stuff, like lettuce, tomato and sauce.

On a personal note I've hit 100kgs in weight. But I've been trying to do that for a while (through weight lifting, don't you know). Forgot about the ass-prints a heavy person leaves on couchs. It is almost depressing. Almost.

Happy, happy birthday. It's still the 11th, so I'm not too late :-)

Hang in there on your diet.. and I'm proud of you for the weight you HAVE lost. Birthdays and weekends off are meant to celebrate and not have to worry about carbs (my expert opinion, of course!!!)

Turns out we won't be making it to Jekyll next weekend after all [pouting just a little bit here]. The bathroom didn't get finished this weekend and, since our contractor friend thinks he needs to earn money during the week, it will be next weekend before he can come back up. Was hoping to hook up with you, but no further apart than we live, we'll make it another time.

    Have a great week.

You should be flogged, for living in Savannah and eating at a crappy chain, like Outback.

Hang in there, you can do it. It's okay to have those special evenings of extra food...just not too often. I find I don't enjoy the plain carb dinners anymore. I feel exhausted almost right away and find I will avoid big servings even whe I goto my boyfriends parents. That is the most difficult time to avoid starches, when someone has cooked them and you are their guest. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings, so I just try to take small servings, and eat a pile of salad.

I also found out...that lack of sleep can make one expand in the middle!!! I just found out a few days ago, and have gone out of my way to sleep 8 hours. I almost never sleep 8 hours...but I notice my tummy does looker a little smaller...hmmm..

    Cheers
    Candy

It is hard when you do not lose what you think you should but I am glad you are not letting it get you down. because that is when I usually give up. THinking ahead to your next birthday is s good focal point. I am shooting for a 20 lb weightloss by Christmas (doable since it is only 5 lbs per month....did I say only?) and then that way when it comes to New Years resolution I will be halfway done with my 40 lb weight loss goal!!!! It does help to focus on small weight losses rather than the big number...keep going, you are doing great!

15 pounds?! You should be commended, girl! I am soooo jealous! Not only of the weight loss, but also of the way you always see the positive in things. I liked the 1/2 pound comparison to the burger. You took what could have been a discouraging setback and turned it into skinnier thighs! I love it!! Keep going!!

Happy B-Day!!! 40 is sexy, but 39 is not bad too… :) Have fun at the Steakhouse!

You left me a note that you would like to make a posting about my painting. The one with woman and two horses? Yes. I'll be honored! Yes, you may use the picture. I'm very curious what you would write... :)

Wow.... congratulations on losing 15 lbs! I admire anyone who can do that. I can't even seem to lose 5. Of course, the fact that I'm not even trying should have nothing to do with it. Happy Birthday too!
