Where, Oh where is Africa? |
Back in January I posted a map of the Arrogant American. At least they didn't forget the entire African continent in that map. |

As a geographer, I love this post - it's so sad, but true. For some other fun thematic maps, check out the blog Strangemaps.com! (I'm not plugging myself, they just have some cool work on there!)

Oh, and another thing, a lot of people think that Alaska is actually an island too, since it's always depicted on a map in an inset near Hawaii. Seriously. A friend of mine taught GRAD school Geography and someone asked that question - about why they're near each other and have totally different climates. So. Sad.

Lol, they did however forget all about Scandinavia in the other one. At least on this one, I´m aknowledged as a pussie...

That's funny! Funny and sad at the same time, because I know people who I suspect have this view of the world. And then there's Miss South Carolina (or whoever the hell she was). ;-)

Mappy: You mean Alaska isn't an island? (j/k) I was just telling another Bloggy Buddy how many don't know that the seasons are opposite in the North/Southern Hemispheres.
Evalinn: Some think that Europe is one big country called England full of states. (France, Norway, Scotland, Italy, etc.)
Carlos: I know many also. Through grade school all I ever was taught was History/Geography beginning with Christopher Columbus in Sept. and we closed in June learning about the Civil War. I didn't know anything about the rest of the world when I graduated.

Margie,
Should he be titled "Ignorant American" instead of Arrogant?
